Wrapping up

How time flies... we are going to finish our renovating soon. It was a tough job for the aircon guys to pull our compressor through the window. Luckily, they managed to do it by the end of the day and the system is working fine. The weekend was spent scrubbing and wiping the floors and walls. Also went ikea to make a list of things to buy, now that we are on a tight budget. We are only left with minor stuff to be done.

1.) Few pieces of glass to be delivered and fixed in various spots in the house. done on 04/09
2.) Wallpaper for the TV console. done on 01/09 UPDATE on 06/09: wrong wallpaper (pending rectification) UPDATE: done on 13/09
3.) Carpentry works (door stopper on main door, drill holes for consoles) done on 06/09
4.) Lights bulbs to be replaced at kitchen and display cabinet done on 06/09

Updates

This week carpentry works continued. The people came to clear the haulage and the whole place looks neater. Someone came to take measurements for the glass pieces but the plumber was nowhere to be seen. 3 hrs later, he still failed to show up. Got to fix another day with him again to help us with the bathroom accessories. Labeled a few hollow tiles and checking what stuff needs rectifying.

Heaven (Lights) & Earth (Flooring)

Work was progressing this week. Lights were up on Thursday and flooring finished by today. They even put up the hood and sink in the kitchen.

Some minor issues:

1.) Wrong walkway down light installed rectified on 18/08
2.) Altar table height too short rectified on 30/08
3.) Feature wall tear rectified on 30/08
4.) Curtain tracking too close to window rectified on 18/08

Met with some hiccups

The kitchen cabinets were set up and I loved the colours. The carpenter will be coming to fix up the tap, sink, hood and hob next week. Flooring for the rooms were also done but I wasn't particularly pleased with the uneven laminate and skirting which my ID commented was due to the lousy workmanship of the cement screeding by HDB. Nevertheless, the colour he chose for our laminate was great. It goes well with our concept and different from the traditional wood colour. Our glass panels for the WIW was done as well, although they took back the door cos it was of wrong measurement according to them. They have also started working on our feature wall for the living room and building up the platform for our display cabinets. The guy who will be doing our curtains came over and we spent some time choosing the curtains for each room.

Some imperfections we spotted:

1.) A dent in the false ceiling of the walkway. (probably done by the laminate guys when they moved the planks in) rectified on 29/08
2.) A deep cut across my study room door. (probably done by the same bunch of culprits) rectified on 13/09
3.) Some parts of the WIW glass panels were not sealed. rectified on 18/08
4.) A dent on the false wall of the glass panel. rectified on 29/08
5.) Unevenness between the skirting and floor for the laminates of all rooms. (cause by cement screeding?) covered on 15/08
6.) Wood for the platform not cut properly. (accordingly to allow for heat expansion) covered on 15/08
7.) Some tiles were hollow at the sides, while one was hollow in the centre. More yet to be inspected.rectified on 29/08
8.) Glass piece of feature wall not aligned. rectified on 07/08
9.) Wrong storage heater installed. rectified on 13/08

Living in colors

We were greeted with a surprise. The walls and ceilings were all painted and cement screed was done. Now we just wait for the laminates to be done. Our ID has also gotten someone to do up the service yard windows for us.
